Hoosier Racing Tire Sports Car R7 Radials are Track and Competition DOT tires developed for drivers who compete in driving events and track days where responsiveness and high levels of dry grip are desirable. The R7 Radials replaced are designed to reward drivers with faster cornering speeds, consistent lap times and extended longevity due to an improved belt structure and rubber compound. The R7 features a revised symmetric internal construction that uses nylon-cord radial carcass plies reinforced by two lightweight steel belts and a spirally wrapped circumferential nylon cap ply under the tread.
Hoosier R7s produce very crisp steering response and excellent transitional performance. Their advanced internal construction provides very high overall grip and great stability at the tire's limit of adhesion, allowing the driver to apply more power with confidence. Beginning with a tread depth of 4.5/32", they do not require shaving for competition. We have found no benefit from machine heat cycling before competition; the best prep is to drive the first session on new "sticker" tires by gently bringing them up to temp over several laps, finishing with a couple hot laps and then letting them cool in the pit/paddock.
D.O.T. labeled Hoosier Racing Tires meet Department of Transportation requirements for marking and performance only and are NOT INTENDED FOR HIGHWAY USE. It is unsafe to operate any Hoosier Racing Tire, including D.O.T. tires, on public roads. The prohibited use of Hoosier Racing Tires on public roadways may result in loss of traction, unexpected loss of vehicle control, or sudden loss of tire pressure, resulting in a vehicle crash and possible injury or death.
And like all Dry Racetrack & Autocross Only tires, R7s are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. It’s also essential these tires be stored indoors at temperatures maintained above 32 degrees F.
